Are HFT machines Useful to the Market?

It is a very good question and one that Zero Hedge answers far better than I can. I wanted to post my thoughts here because it has only lately becomes a heated topic of discussion.
The whole debate stems from the fact that people generally as a rule don't like to be cheated and lied to in general. Especially when their hard earned money is on the line.
I said it once before and I will say it again. The stock index (citing the DOW) has risen over 10000% in the past 100 years.
So why is it that no one in most cases in the general populace is that much better off. Yes, our standard of living has increased but that is more a direct cause of innovation in business than it is because of anything the financial industry has provided to the public.
If it were simply a matter of buy and hold for all this time then we should all be extraordinarily wealthy right. We should all have accumulated a fortune a long time ago right?
If you look back on history mom and pop have notoriously bought in at the top and sold at the bottom. You really can't make this stuff up.
Many attribute it to lack of proper timing but then again why are the tops and bottoms so seemingly in synch with what mom and pop do with their money?
Could it be that the game is rigged against them and always has been?
I sure think so.
High Frequency Trading is simply designing another form of trading that takes from the general populace. It is simply a way to skim more money from the people that count on the exchanges to be fair and honest.
Bernie Madoff said the games are rigged and he would know after running one of the greatest ponzi schemes known to man. If they weren't rigged you wouldn't have this huge income inequality between the ultra rich and the middle class and poor.
In my own humble opinion it is just another way to screw the investors who always seem to take it on the chin.
The reason why it is such a large debate is people are quite literally tired of enriching someone else with their hard earned money.
In conclusion I don't blame them.
You may think of Forex by itself as being just another way to make money but proof is that most do not. Think about this before you invest or stay tuned to my blog where you will get freebies to make money off the EUR/USD.
At least I won't run off with your hard earned money because quite simply "if I don't make money then you don't make money".
I make money on my signal and there is no reason at all why you don't.
